Dunscroft Unite

Theme: Drugs Awareness

This meeting brought a variety of professionals together to discuss models of best practise from other areas in South Yorkshire around the subject of tackling drug problems and applying this to a local level in Dunscroft. There were a variety of stalls and extensive information on drug use and practical advice to parents who might be concerned about their own childrens exposure to drugs. A long and interesting debate took place about the problems with drugs in Dunscroft followed by a report from our local police officer on the statistics compiled be her division on the amount of drug and drug related crime in this area. This highlighted that in comparison to other areas the statistics were quite low, but the meeting concluded that 'targetted' work by all stakeholders needs to be put into place in Dunscroft including both education and raising awareness. If anyone missed the meeting and who would like any literature or advice about drugs and their effects or indeed to source help are encouraged to drop in the Dunscroft Unite Offices where we have a variety of agencies that maybe of help and a range of informative leaflets.
