Dunscroft Unite

Resource Centre

Dunscroft Unite have a vision of delivering a community resource centre on the site of 281 Station Road. Our community consultation events have confirmed the need for this facility where local people can go to  receive advice on a wide range of issues from financial advice from the local Danum Credit Union to advice surgeries held by our local councillors, community First and police officers. We will also host an IT suite were people of all ages can learn new skills. Our community development programme will roll out a number of courses throughout the year, so people can receive training specific to their needs.

We are currently negotiating with DMBC planning department over an environmental issue, caused by the weakness of the banks of the river Don in Stainforth. Unfortunately this problem has an impact on the risk of flooding in surrounding areas and therefore we have to satisfy the concerns raised by  the environmental agency before we can obtain planning permission.

We are hopeful that this hurdle can be overcome and planning permission will be granted within the next three months.

Should anyone wish to see the plans for the Resource Centre copies are kept in the office and you are welcome to view them at any time.

We will keep you informed with developments on this project.
