Carcroft Under 9's V Dunscroft Welfare Blues

Carcroft Under 9’s          4          Dunscroft Welfare Blues        0

This match promised to be the Blues toughest match of the season and that is exactly how it turned out. Dunscroft began well, passing the ball about and making Carcroft work hard to keep them at bay. It was against the run of play that Carcroft scored with a deflected shot which evaded the Blues keeper and trickled into the corner of the net. This spurred on Dunscroft who mounted wave after wave of attacks and played some good football. Carcroft were hanging on and the Blues created chance after chance which all went begging. All of the pressure was coming from Dunscroft and Carcroft were very fortunate and no-doubt relieved to hear the half time whistle. They had scored with their only shot on target. The second half saw a tactical change from the Blues manager and he pushed an extra player forward to exploit the dominance of Dunscroft who were now playing with a strong wind at their backs, but as the Blues defended high up the pitch, Carcroft broke and in a one-on-one the Carcroft striker coolly took it round the Blues keeper and stroked it into an empty net to make it 2-0. The Blues did not give up their game plan and brought on their substitutes to chase the game. They continued to attack without having a meaningful effort on goal and Carcroft took a 3-0 lead late in the second half as they now began to dominate and play with confidence. Just before the final whistle, Carcroft broke again and hammered their final goal into the roof of the Blues net making it 4-0 and giving the score line a flattering look in a game which could have easily gone Dunscroft’s way had they taken their chances in the first half. Brad Parkes was named Blues man of the match for the second consecutive week.
